Where - Range 8
How Much - $15.00 adult / $8.00 junior plus extra fees
CMP qualifying HighPower rifle matches are conducted on Range 8 the 4th Saturday of each month. The match entry fee is $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for juniors.
Range 8 is a 200 yard range with 15 covered firing points. The targets are operated by shooters in the pits. The match is fired in relays with the following time schedule:
Starting with the match in January 2010, the High Power program will
change.
There will no longer be the 2 afternoon relays.
Everyone MUST show up in the morning by 8:30 AM.
Here's how it will work:
0800-0830 Sign-ups/check-in
0900 Relay 1 shoots, Relay 3 scores / works the pits:
1015 Relay 2 shoots, Relay 1 scores / works the pits
1140 Relay 3 shoots, Relay 2 scores / works the pits
New shooters will be squaded on Relay 3
There are two (2) basic types of rifles - service and match.
Service rifles: M1, M14, M1A, and AR15. During the rapid fire stages these rifles are loaded with 2 rounds in the first clip/magazine and 8 rounds in the second.
Match rifles: Normally a bolt action center fire rifle with iron sights capable of holding 5 rounds. During the rapid fire stages these rifles are loaded with 5 rounds in the in the first clip and 5 rounds in the second.
Chabot Gun Club has M1 Garand rifles that can be checked out to shoot the match. Please call the office (510-569-0213) before match day to check on the status of loaner rifles. There is no charge to use the rifles, BUT you MUST use Club ammunition which costs $36.00 for enough to shoot the match, 60 rounds.
It is recommended that anyone who desires to participate, but lacks experience in match shooting come to a match to observe, ask questions, and see what it is all about first.
