Holster Basics Class:

Purpose:      To prepare continuing students for modern action pistol (not cowboy action shooting) matches and further training experiences.

Special Instructions:

This is a class for continuing students, NOT for novices. You must have taken Chabot Gun Club's Basic Handgun Safety and Marksmanship Class or an instructor approved equivalent first.

Class will cover:

    Proper equipment, belt, holster and mag pouch design.

    5 point retention draw technique.

    Reloading,

    Malfunction clearing.

    Reholstering a loaded firearm.

Instruction will be given in strong-side hip or thigh rigs with acceptable retention characteristics only. Holsters must cover the trigger guard and retain the firearm during modest movement. Belts should

        shoulder or cross draw holsters,,
        pocket or ankle rigs,
        belly bands, specialized underwear or other exotic gun-carrying assemblies,
        fanny packs, small of the back holsters, briefcases or gun-purses
        will be permitted in the class.

Make sure you have the right equipment before you come to the class. We will be happy to advise you on various options. The instructor's opinion on all such matters will be final.

You must provide your own firearm, two or more magazines or speed loaders and one or more magazine or speed-loader pouches.

You should register and pay in advance because classes are limited to 10 students.

Chabot Gun Club will not knowingly train anyone in this class who cannot legally be in possession of firearms. Students must be 21 years of age unless prior arrangements are made with the instructor.
