BHSM is an excellent way to start shooting or to tune up your marksmanship skills. The class is comprised of approximately 3 1/2 hours of classroom theory, 2 hours hands-on manipulation with dry-fire instruction and 2 to 2 1/2 hours of live-fire experience.

BHSM certificates are accepted by several sheriffs’ departments for the educational component of their concealed carry permit applications. BHSM graduates should keep their BHSM certificates in a safe place.

Although this class can be taken as preparation for, and exceeds the California Handgun Safety Certificate requirements needed to purchase a handgun, no HSC certificate will be issued. We encourage everyone to take the HSC test at their local gun shop. If you can’t pass the HSC test after taking our class, we’ll give you your BHSM money back.

Please do not be late to the class. Latecomers will be re-scheduled. Try to get here by 08:20. The roads are full of curves and bicyclists so you will want to leave early.

Please bring a lunch: there is not enough time to get a lunch down the hill and we only have machines at the snack-bar.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTORS AND THE USE OF THE GLOCK PISTOL:

John M. Maunder has been Chabot Gun Club's Rangemaster for 20 years and has studied under some of the world's top firearms trainers from schools such as Gunsite, Marksman's Enterprises, Glock Inc. and Thunder Ranch. Some of his relevant credentials are:

Instructor of Instructors in Handgun, Tactical Rifle and Urban Shotgun, Marksman’s Enterprises

Graduate: Instructors Transitional Training Course, Police Services Division, Glock, Inc.

Instructor: Handgun Safety Certificate, CA, Dept. of Justice

John and Chabot’s team of instructors and coaches have taught thousands of men, women and children from novice beginners to advanced combat shooters. Civilians who take our classes generally demonstrate dramatic improvements in their skills and confidence levels. Sworn police officers and active military personnel who have taken Chabot’s classes as part of their training are in service around the world.

This class primarily uses Glock service pistols because John has found the Glock to be an easy handgun for most beginners to learn the basics and for more experienced shooters to tune up their skills. Once the fundamentals of safety and marksmanship are learned with the Glock, the student should also be able to master the idiosyncrasies of other firearms more readily and with greater safety.

Chabot Gun Club also offers Intermediate Handgun Safety & Marksmanship Classes, Home Defense Classes, Holster Classes, Light Rifle, Appleseed Rifle, Team3 Tactical Training, private instruction and Hunter Safety Classes as well as a wide variety of shooting activities and competitions. Please look at the tabs along the side or call for further information @ 510-569-0213.

Safety is paramount. We enforce safety rules strictly. Chabot Gun Club Management reserves the right to refuse admission, control occupancy or remove anyone whose conduct is deemed by management to be disorderly or who fails to comply with any safety regulation.
